My practice explores the dialogue between my conscious and subconscious thoughts, which
I express through line, form and colour.
I work by creating a variety of pure and direct translations of thoughts through the medium of print.
I mainly work with drawings, imagery
I have captured and then manipulated in photoshop, or intuitive combinations of line, form and colour.
I use lithography, monoprint and screenprint; exploring new techniques, whichever
I feel most appropriate, to best translate my conscious or subconscious thoughts to the viewer.
I allow myself to be guided by my thoughts, influenced by my everyday environment and using my dreams, mixing and settling with new ideas to move my art forward.
I explore visual influences for subject matter, from my imagination, theory, philosophy and physical experiences.
I investigate the importance, complexity, emotive strength and pleasing qualities of the use of colour within my work. Through various juxtaposing or harmonious combinations,
I layer different forms, use idiosyncratic mark making and colour combinations to create strong emotive responses in the viewer. My practice is influenced by zen philosophy and wabi sabi principles. To be able to maintain simplicity in my ideas and retain a fundamental sense of balance and purity within my compositions.
I keep my translations pure, minimising the distractions of everyday noise surrounding us and
I invite the viewer to enter into the same space
I create through my work.
